Santander bullfighting fair dates

Santander will celebrate the Santiago Bullfighting Fair 2024 from July 20 to 26 and will feature important figures of current bullfighting such as Roca Rey, Morante, Cayetano, Juan Ortega, Pablo Aguado or Daniel Luque, as well as the ranches of Antonio Bañuelos, La Quinta and Domingo Hernandez.
This was announced by the mayor, Gema Igual, after meeting in Madrid with the businessman of Lances de Futuro, José María Garzón, and with the bullfighter Cayetano Rivera to advance in the organization of the bullfights that the Cuatro Caminos Bullring will host.

“Due to tradition and quality, Santander is consolidating itself as the great Fair in the North of Spain and for this reason, in 2024, the main figures of current bullfighting cannot be missing,” he highlighted.
The councilor has presented this preview of the next bullfighting fair within the framework of FITUR since it is one of the strategic projects with which Santander attends the tourism fair and with which it wants to convey the importance of a “key” event. ” for the city in its most important week of the year in terms of visitor reception, culture and leisure activities.

In addition, he recalled that the Santiago Fair will be broadcast completely and exclusively through the OneToro TV digital platform and will reach 99 countries. “It will be a catalyst for Santander and Cantabria, as a bullfighting showcase and the countless attractions of our city ​​and our community,” he assured.

The councilor has also announced that next Friday, February 16, the awards ceremony for the 2023 fair will take place, which the City Council awards annually and which have gone to Roca Rey, the La Quinta, Tomás Rufo livestock farm, which was declared the best debutant, and Ginés Marín, for the best lunge, as decided by the jury made up of clubs and media.

Among the distinctions, there will also be a recognition to the bullfighter Cayetano Rivera for the saving victory given to his partner Roca Rey in the bullfight on July 25.
In this sense, the mayor has always thanked Cayetano for his willingness and total collaboration with the City Council and the Santander fair.
Likewise, it has reaffirmed the support that the City Council shows to the Santander bullfighting fair: for its roots in the city, for its contribution to maintaining the cultural, historical and architectural heritage of a more than centenary bullring, and for its economic impact.
And he highlighted the joint work between the City Council and Lances de Futuro in presenting powerful and interesting posters for what is the great Northern Fair.

José María Garzón has thanked Gema Igual for her support and commitment “without complexes to bullfighting and in promoting a bullfighting fair of the importance of Santander, a commitment that is also seen throughout the year with the maintenance and care of the Bullring of Four ways”.

Finally, the president of the Board of Directors of the Plaza de Toros, Indalecio Sobrino, has assured that the 2024 fair will be “extraordinary” as they have all been in recent years and has appreciated the joint work to position itself as the fair of the North .
